Amitriptyline for fibromyalgia?

I suppose you have to take it every night, because it is an anti-depressant. Does anyone take it just as needed or will it do more harm than good? How have you benefit from it?
Answer:
for adults: initially 50 to 100 mg by mouth at bed time, increasing to 150 mg daily. Maximum, 300 mg daily, IF NEEDED. Maintenance, 50 to 100 mg daily.for adolescents: 10 mg by mouth, three times a day and 20 mg at bed time daily.adverse reaction:
tremor, anxiety, insomnia, restlessness, drowsiness, dizziness weakness, fatigue, headache, hallucinations, delusions, disorientation, coma, seizure, stroke, heart attack, arrhythmias, heart block, hypoglycemia, dry mouth, vomiting diarrhea, constipation, urine retention, rash
